Habitat: only found on the eastern plains, where they live in sandy hills, sandy flood plains, fields, lawns, cemeteries, and golf courses*
Diet: insectovores (insect eaters) and they also eat earthworms*
Coloration: velvety grayish fur*
Mating: breed in late winter and the females give birth to a litter of four naked young in March or April after a gestation period of about 5 weeks.
Fun Facts: Moles do not have necks, they are torpedo-shaped, tiny eyes and ears, spade-like front feet, and a naked, pointed snout that acts as a sensitive probe.* They are 6 inches long, including the tail.*
